How to set up the controller for a variable speed pool pump?

The AQUASTRONG variable speed pool pump is not only highly efficient and quiet but also offers exceptional control through its programmable control panel. This guide will walk you through how to operate the panel, adjust pump speeds, and set up scheduled run times to help you save energy while keeping your pool clean.

1. Starting and Self-Priming Function

When the pump is off, simply press the “Start” button. The unit will automatically perform a self-priming process. During startup, the pump draws enough water to build up pressure for proper circulation.

Note: During priming, the pump runs at a higher speed. Once priming is complete, it will automatically drop to the preset Speed 1 (the lowest speed).

2. Four Preset Speed Modes

The AQUASTRONG pump offers four preset speeds that can be easily selected through the control panel:

  • Speed 1 – 1200 RPM
Uses around 96 watts of power—extremely energy-efficient. Ideal for everyday water circulation, providing a steady, quiet stream.

  • Speed 2 – 2000 RPM
Consumes about 300 watts. Suitable for enhanced circulation while maintaining low noise levels.

  • Speed 3 – 3200 RPM
Draws roughly 1000 watts. Best used for pressure-side cleaners or auxiliary systems. Recommended for short use (e.g., 2 hours per day).

  • Speed 4 – 4000 RPM (Max)
Offers maximum power, ideal for quickly cleaning the pool after storms. Slightly louder and not recommended for all-day operation.

3. Customizing Pump Speeds

You can customize the RPM for each speed level:

  1. Enter the "Speed" settings menu.

  2. Choose any of the speed modes from Speed 1 to Speed 4.

  3. Adjust the RPM as desired (e.g., set Speed 1 to 1750 RPM for stronger baseline circulation).

  4. Save your settings.

4. Setting Timed Schedules

You can set up to 4 automatic schedules, each with a start and stop time, displayed in 24-hour format.

Example Setup:

  • Schedule 1

    • Function: Enabled

    • Start Time: 06:00 (6:00 AM)

    • Stop Time: 15:00 (3:00 PM)

    • Suitable for running your daily cleaning system.

  • Schedule 2 & 4: Not enabled (can be customized as needed)

  • Schedule 3

    • Function: Enabled

    • Ideal for night-time low-speed circulation or other specific purposes.

How to Set:

  1. Enter the "Schedule" menu.

  2. Select the desired schedule (e.g., Schedule 1).

  3. Enable the schedule.

  4. Set the Start Time and Stop Time.

  5. Save and exit.

5. Additional Settings

The AQUASTRONG control panel also supports:

  • Language Selection

  • Dry Running Protection: Prevents the pump from operating without water.

  • Self-Priming Toggle: Customize whether the self-priming feature is on or off.

Summary

By properly configuring the AQUASTRONG variable speed pump's operating speeds and schedules, you can maintain a clean pool while significantly reducing energy consumption and noise. The smart control panel is intuitive and user-friendly—even for first-time users.
