FAQ

General Knowledge

What are the functions of the 6-Way Valve positions?
  • FILTER: Normal water purification.
  • BACKWASH: Cleans the sand bed (Run 2-3 mins until clear).
  • RINSE: Clears pipes after backwashing (Run 30-60 secs).
  • WASTE: Drains water directly (Bypasses filter).
  • RECIRCULATE: Circulates water without filtering (for chemicals).
  • CLOSE: Shuts off flow (For maintenance).
What is the critical safety rule for operating the valve?

Always turn off the pump before switching valve positions to prevent internal damage.

Why is the actual System Flow Rate lower than the Pump Max Flow Rate?

"Max Flow" is a theoretical lab value. "System Flow" is the actual performance (approx. 70–80% of max) due to resistance from pipes and the filter.

What type and amount of sand should be used?
  • Type: Use only #20 Silica Sand (0.45–0.85 mm). Never use construction sand.
  • Quantity: Fill tank to 2/3 capacity. Do not fill past the "MAX" line.
How to correctly operate the Self-Priming Pump?
  • Prime: Manually fill the pump chamber with water before the first use.
  • Seals: Ensure the suction line is 100% airtight (air leaks prevent priming).
  • Lift: Keep suction lines short to maximize lift performance.
What is the recommended operating temperature range?

Operate between 32°F and 104°F (0°C – 40°C). Protect from freezing and do not exceed 104°F.

Troubleshooting

What to do if the pump won't work, overheats, or buzzes?
  1. Buzzing/No Start: Check for jammed impeller, capacitor failure, or low voltage.
  2. Overheating: Clear debris from impeller/fan and ensure ventilation.
  3. Basic Checks: Water level too low? Basket clogged? Power tripped?
  4. Action: Turn power OFF, spin impeller by hand to check for jams.
What to do if the 6-Way Valve handle is stuck?
  1. Safety: Turn Pump OFF first.
  2. Relieve Pressure: Switch to "Recirculate" to release pressure.
  3. Lubricate: Remove handle assembly, clean/grease the O-ring.
  4. Check: Inspect valve seat for trapped sand.
Why is the pressure gauge reading high (>0.7 bar)?
  1. Backwash: Run a full Backwash & Rinse cycle.
  2. Check Sand: If pressure stays high, sand is compacted (stir manually) or too fine (replace with #20 sand).
  3. Gauge: Ensure gauge drops to zero when off.
How to fix a leak between the Valve and the Filter Tank?
  1. Seal: Replace the O-ring/gasket between valve and tank.
  2. Tighten: Tighten clamp bolts evenly in a diagonal pattern.
  3. Inspect: Check tank flange for cracks.
What to do if sand/debris enters the plumbing?
  1. Stop: Turn off pump immediately.
  2. Inspect: Check for broken "Laterals" (bottom fingers) or damaged Center Pipe seal.
  3. Flush: Flush lines using "WASTE" mode.
What causes "Sand Blowback" into the pool?
  • Cause: Broken Laterals or Center Pipe O-ring.
  • Fix: Drain tank, replace damaged parts, and refill with correct #20 silica sand.
Why does dirty/green water flow back after cleaning?
  • Cause: Skipping the "RINSE" step.
  • Fix: Always follow: BACKWASH (2-3 mins) → RINSE (30-60 secs) → FILTER.
Why is the pump noisy?
  1. Air Leak: Check suction lines/lid for air leaks.
  2. Debris: Clear clogged basket or impeller.
  3. Stability: Ensure pump is on a solid, level surface.
What if water is found inside the pump motor housing?
  • Cause: Rain exposure or loose lid.
  • Fix: Move to sheltered area, dry out, and ensure lid is tight. Stop use if motor fails.
Why does the Circuit Breaker trip?
  • Check: Water intrusion (wet motor), bad grounding, or undersized extension cords.
  • Action: Dry the pump and check wiring.
How to remove air if there is no relief valve?

Run the system in BACKWASH mode for 2-3 minutes. This purges trapped air out through the waste line.
